WEBTOON™ ACCOUNT Terms of Use

Effective Date: October 12, 2026

For languages other than English, this document has been automatically translated for your convenience. In the event of any conflict or discrepancy between this translation and the English original, the English version shall prevail.

These WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms of Use (“WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms”) govern your creation and use of a WEBTOON ACCOUNT and the associated identity, authentication, security, and account-management system (collectively, “WEBTOON ACCOUNT”). Please read these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms carefully.

BY CREATING, ACCESSING, OR USING WEBTOON ACCOUNT, YOU AGREE TO THESE WEBTOON ACCOUNT TERMS AND ANY SUPPLEMENTAL TERMS THAT APPLY.
SECTION 15 CONTAINS A BINDING ARBITRATION AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER THAT AFFECTS YOUR RIGHTS. FOR USERS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES, SECTION 15 APPLIES ONLY TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.

1. These Terms of Use Are a Contract Between You and Us

These WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms are a contract between you and NAVER WEBTOON Ltd., located at NAVER Green Factory, 6, Buljeong-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and its affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively, “WBTN,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). WEBTOON ACCOUNT provides account, sign-in, authentication, security, and account-management functionality that must be used to access websites, apps, platforms, products, and services offered by WBTN, one or more of its related companies or other participating providers (each, a “Downstream Service”, and each provider will be identified before such access starts). These WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms govern WEBTOON ACCOUNT only. Your use of a Downstream Service is governed by its separate terms of use, rules, and privacy notices (“Downstream Service Terms”).

  • Downstream Service Terms apply to each applicable Downstream Service.
  • These WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms apply to WEBTOON ACCOUNT.
  • If there is a conflict, Downstream Service Terms control for the Downstream Service and WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms control for WEBTOON ACCOUNT, to the extent of the conflict.

For clarity, when you use WEBTOON ACCOUNT to access a Downstream Service, WEBTOON ACCOUNT provides sign-in and identity functions only. The Downstream Service, its access eligibility, content, subscriptions, purchases, and service features remain governed by the Downstream Service Terms. Use of WEBTOON ACCOUNT does not guarantee your access to any Downstream Service; access to Downstream Service is governed by the Downstream Service Terms. Certain supplemental terms, program rules, or regional addenda may apply depending on where you live or which Downstream Services you use (“Supplemental Terms”). Supplemental Terms are incorporated by reference. If there is a conflict, the Supplemental Terms control to the extent necessary to resolve the conflict.

Except as expressly stated in these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms (including Section 15(h)), there are no third-party beneficiaries of these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms.

By agreeing to these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the WEBTOON ACCOUNT Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, disclose, and process your personal information.

2. Changes to WEBTOON ACCOUNT and These WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms

WEBTOON ACCOUNT and its features may change over time. We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue WEBTOON ACCOUNT (or any part of it), including supported login methods, security features, and device requirements, subject to applicable law.

We may update these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms from time to time at our discretion (for example and without limitation, to reflect changes in WEBTOON ACCOUNT, to address security issues, or to comply with law). If we make changes that materially affect your rights, we will provide prior notice as required by applicable law. Your continued use of WEBTOON ACCOUNT after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the updated WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms, to the extent permitted by law. If you do not agree, you must stop using WEBTOON ACCOUNT.

3. Definitions

a) “WEBTOON ACCOUNT”: WBTN’s unified account and identity system, as well as the account created through that system, which you use to access multiple WBTN services. For the purposes of these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms, “account” means your WEBTOON ACCOUNT.

b) “Downstream Service”: a service that accepts WEBTOON ACCOUNT authentication or integrates with WEBTOON ACCOUNT.

c) “Downstream Service Terms”: terms and policies governing a Downstream Service.

d) “Identity Provider” / “IdP”: a third-party authentication provider that enables you to sign in to or create a WEBTOON ACCOUNT to access Downstream Services using credentials you maintain with that third party, including social login providers (e.g., Apple, Google, Facebook, LINE, X) and any other provider we support from time to time. The sign-in methods and supported IdPs available to you may vary depending on the applicable Downstream Service and your location, device, app version, or other technical or legal considerations. Not all sign-in methods are available for all Downstream Services.

e) “Credentials”: passwords, passkeys, MFA methods, OTPs, tokens, or other authentication methods.

4. Eligibility

You may use WEBTOON ACCOUNT only if:

  • you can form a binding contract with WBTN under applicable law; and
  • you are not barred from using WEBTOON ACCOUNT under applicable law.

During WEBTOON ACCOUNT sign-up, we may ask you to self-declare your age (or date of birth) to help determine your eligibility for certain Downstream Services. Some Downstream Services may impose additional requirements (e.g., minimum age, geographic restrictions). Those requirements are governed by Downstream Service Terms.

5. Registration and Accounts

You agree to provide and maintain accurate, current, and complete account information (including any required contact information). You agree not to provide false information or misrepresent your identity or affiliation. If you create or use WEBTOON ACCOUNT on behalf of an organization, you represent you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes the organization.

You are responsible for safeguarding your Credentials and for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. You are responsible for activities taken through your account that you can reasonably control. If you suspect unauthorized access or compromise, you must promptly notify us and take reasonable steps to secure your account (including changing Credentials where applicable). We may implement and require reasonable security measures (e.g., fraud detection). You agree we may take reasonable steps to protect WEBTOON ACCOUNT, WBTN, and users.

6. Identity Providers and Linked Accounts

WEBTOON ACCOUNT may allow you to sign in using an IdP. Your relationship with an IdP is governed by that IdP’s terms and privacy policy. WBTN does not control IdPs and is not responsible for their availability, functionality or security. WEBTOON ACCOUNT may enable you to link, manage, or unlink authentication methods and certain Downstream Service profiles. You authorize WEBTOON ACCOUNT to store and use identifiers necessary to provide authentication, account recovery, fraud prevention, and account management. We do not guarantee that any particular authentication method or IdP will always be available. If an IdP becomes unavailable or we discontinue support for it, you may no longer be able to access your existing WEBTOON ACCOUNT, and we may not be able to restore access to that account. In that event, you may need to sign up for a new WEBTOON ACCOUNT to continue using WEBTOON ACCOUNT or Downstream Services.

7. Communications

You consent to receive communications electronically from WBTN, including legal notices, security alerts, and account-related communications, using contact information you provide (e.g., email, in-account notices). Where we have consent to do so and where permitted by law, we may send marketing communications as described in the WEBTOON ACCOUNT Privacy Policy and applicable preference settings. You may opt out of marketing communications as described there; however, you may still receive service and security communications.

When you use WEBTOON ACCOUNT, you may be given the opportunity to consent to receive communications from us through email and/or mobile push notifications. You can opt out of promotional communications at any time by following the “Unsubscribe” directions for emails. Please note that your withdrawal will not affect prior lawfulness of the processing of your personal data.

8. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to access or use WEBTOON ACCOUNT in a way that violates law or harms WBTN, users, Downstream Services, or others. Without limiting the foregoing, you will not:

  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to WEBTOON ACCOUNT, Downstream Services, accounts, or related systems;
  • interfere with, disrupt, overburden, or degrade WEBTOON ACCOUNT (including through malware, denial-of-service, or similar conduct);
  • circumvent or disable security features, access controls, or authentication protections;
  • use automated means (bots, scripts, scraping tools) to access, monitor, or extract data from WEBTOON ACCOUNT except as expressly authorized in writing by WBTN;
  • engage in fraud, account takeover, credential stuffing, phishing, or other deceptive practices;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble WEBTOON ACCOUNT or related software except to the extent permitted by law;
  • use WEBTOON ACCOUNT or data obtained from WEBTOON ACCOUNT to develop, train, test, benchmark, validate, or fine-tune machine learning or AI systems, except as expressly authorized in writing by WBTN; or
  • use WEBTOON ACCOUNT for any unlawful purpose.

We may investigate suspected violations and may cooperate with law enforcement where appropriate.

9. Suspension or Termination

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your account or access to WEBTOON ACCOUNT if we reasonably believe you:

  • violated these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms or applicable Supplemental Terms;
  • engaged in unlawful conduct;
  • pose a security risk;
  • used WEBTOON ACCOUNT for fraud or abuse; or
  • if required by law or governmental request.

Suspension or termination of WEBTOON ACCOUNT will prevent you from accessing Downstream Services that rely on WEBTOON ACCOUNT authentication. Downstream Services may also restrict or terminate access under their Downstream Service Terms.

You may request deletion of your WEBTOON ACCOUNT as described in the WEBTOON ACCOUNT Privacy Policy or available account controls. Deletion may be subject to legal obligations (e.g., security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, tax/accounting where applicable), and will affect your ability to access Downstream Services. Suspension or termination of WEBTOON ACCOUNT may prevent you from accessing one or more Downstream Services that rely on WEBTOON ACCOUNT for authentication. Downstream Services may also restrict, suspend, or terminate your access under their Downstream Service Terms, regardless of whether your WEBTOON ACCOUNT remains active.

When withdrawing your consent for Downstream Services, if you use other Downstream Services with your WEBTOON ACCOUNT, your WEBTOON ACCOUNT will not be affected, and you can still sign into the other Downstream Services with your WEBTOON ACCOUNT. However, if the Downstream Service you withdraw your consent for is the only Downstream Service you use with your WEBTOON ACCOUNT, withdrawing consent for the Downstream Service will automatically and simultaneously delete your WEBTOON ACCOUNT.

If we cease to offer any Downstream Services under WEBTOON ACCOUNT, your WEBTOON ACCOUNT will be terminated, subject to applicable law.

10. Intellectual Property

WEBTOON ACCOUNT and all related software, interfaces, trademarks, and materials, and all copies, modifications and derivative works of the foregoing, are owned by WBTN or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms, WBTN grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and use WEBTOON ACCOUNT for your personal, non-commercial use and solely as intended.

11. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WEBTOON ACCOUNT IS PROVIDED “AS IS,” “AS AVAILABLE,” AND WITH ALL FAULTS.” WBTN DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT WEBTOON ACCOUNT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the above disclaimers. In those jurisdictions, these disclaimers do not apply. No provision in these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any statutory rights which cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement, including any non-excludable legal guarantee of conformity applicable to digital content or digital services under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WBTN AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, AGGRAVATED, PUNITIVE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, ANY DAMAGES CHARACTERIZED AS LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, SAVINGS, DATA, GOODWILL OR REPUTATION, OR FOR BREACH OF ANY EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY WARRANTY, BREACH OF CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, INDEMNITY, STRICT LIABILITY, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY RELATED TO WEBTOON ACCOUNT OR THESE WEBTOON ACCOUNT TERMS. USE OF WEBTOON ACCOUNT IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

YOU SPECIFICALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT WBTN SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR CONTENT OR THE DEFAMATORY, OFFENSIVE, OR ILLEGAL CONDUCT OF ANY THIRD PARTY, AND THAT THE RISK OF HARM OR DAMAGE FROM THE FOREGOING RESTS ENTIRELY WITH YOU. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WBTN’S AND ITS AFFILIATES’ AGGREGATE LIABILITY UNDER THIS AGREEMENT WITH RESPECT TO ANY CLAIM ARISING UNDER OR IN CONNECTION WITH THIS AGREEMENT IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID HEREUNDER.

THE LAWS OF CERTAIN JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, SUCH AS INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. IF THESE LAWS APPLY TO YOU, SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU, AND YOU MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL RIGHTS. YOU AGREE THAT THE REMAINING PORTIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT REMAIN VALID AND ENFORCEABLE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.

13. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless WBTN, its affiliates, and its and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use or misuse of WEBTOON ACCOUNT; (b) your violation of these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms; or (c) your violation of applicable law.

14. Informal Resolution

Before initiating arbitration, you and WBTN agree to attempt to resolve disputes informally for 60 days after receipt of a written notice describing the dispute and the relief requested (“Notice of Dispute”). You must send your Notice of Dispute to: NAVER Green Factory, 6, Buljeong-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, Attn: Legal Department.

15. Arbitration Agreement

This Section 15 applies to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you reside outside the United States, you may have mandatory rights to bring claims in local courts and this Section 15 may not apply or may be limited.

In order to expedite and control the cost of disputes, we and you agree that any legal or equitable claim, dispute, action or proceeding arising from or related to your use of your use of WEBTOON ACCOUNT or these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms (“Dispute”) will be resolved as follows to the fullest extent permitted by law. “Dispute” means any dispute arising out of or relating to WEBTOON ACCOUNT or these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms, including identity, authentication, account-management, security, and account recovery features. Disputes that arise out of or relate to a Downstream Service are governed by the applicable Downstream Service Terms, not these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms, except to the extent the dispute concerns WEBTOON ACCOUNT.

a) Notice of Dispute. In the event of a Dispute, you or we must give the other a written statement that sets forth the name, address, and contact information of the party giving it, the facts giving rise to the Dispute, and a proposed solution (a “Notice of Dispute”). You must send any Notice of Dispute by registered mail to NAVER Green Factory, 6, Buljeong-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, Attention: Legal Department. We will send any Notice of Dispute to you by e-mail address or registered mail to your address if we have it. You and WBTN will attempt to resolve any Dispute through informal negotiation within sixty (60) days from the date the Notice of Dispute is sent. After sixty (60) days, you or we may commence arbitration. An arbitrator will decide any disputes over whether this subsection has been violated, and has the power to enjoin the filing or prosecution of arbitrations. Unless prohibited by applicable law, the arbitrator shall not administer any arbitration unless the requirements of this subsection have been met.

b) Class Action Waiver. Any proceedings to resolve or litigate any Dispute in any forum will be conducted solely on an individual basis. Neither you nor we will seek to have any Dispute heard as a class action or in any other proceeding in which either party acts or proposes to act in a representative capacity. No arbitration or proceeding will be combined with another without the prior written consent of all parties to all affected arbitrations or proceedings. Class actions and class arbitrations are not permitted; for example, you may bring a claim only on your own behalf and cannot seek relief that would affect other users of WEBTOON ACCOUNT. Nor may an arbitrator consolidate arbitrations unless all parties agree. If there is a final judicial determination that the limitations of this paragraph are unenforceable as to a particular claim or a particular request for relief (such as a request for injunctive relief), then the parties agree that such a claim or request for relief shall be decided by a court after all other claims and requests for relief are arbitrated. If this action waiver is found to be illegal or unenforceable as to all or some parts of a dispute, then this section will not apply to those parts.

c) Mass Arbitrations. If 25 or more claimants submit similar Notices of Dispute or file similar arbitrations and are represented by the same or coordinated counsel, all of the cases must be resolved in arbitration in stages using staged bellwether proceedings. You agree to do this even though the resolution of some claims might be delayed. In the first stage, the parties shall select up to 10 cases to be filed in arbitration and resolved by separate arbitrators. In the meantime, no other cases may be filed in arbitration. Nor may the arbitration provider accept, administer or demand payment for fees for other arbitrations. If the remaining cases are not settled after the first stage is done, the parties will repeat the process. These staged bellwether proceedings will continue until all cases are resolved. If this subsection applies to a Notice of Dispute, any statute of limitations applicable to the listed claims will be tolled from the time the first cases are selected for bellwether proceedings until the claimant’s Notice of Dispute is selected for a bellwether proceeding or otherwise resolved. A court will have the authority to enforce this subsection, including the power to enjoin the filing or prosecution of arbitrations or assessment of related fees.

d) Arbitration Procedures. Any arbitration will be conducted by JAMS under the JAMS Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures (“JAMS Rules”) in effect at the time the Dispute is filed. You may request a telephonic or in-person hearing by following the JAMS Rules. In a dispute involving $10,000 or less, any hearing will be telephonic unless the arbitrator finds good cause to hold an in-person hearing instead. To the extent the forum provided by JAMS is unavailable, you and us agree to select a mutually agreeable alternative dispute resolution service and that such alternative dispute resolution service shall apply the JAMS Rules. The arbitrator may award the same damages to you individually as a court could. The arbitrator may award declaratory or injunctive relief only to you individually, and only to the extent required to satisfy your individual claim.

e) Arbitration Fees. Whoever files the arbitration pays the initial filing fee. If we file, then we will pay; if you file, then you will pay unless you get a fee waiver under the applicable arbitration rules. Each party will bear the expense of that party’s attorneys, experts, and witnesses, and other expenses, regardless of which party prevails, but a party may recover any or all expenses (including attorney’s fees) from another party if the arbitrator, applying applicable law, so determines.

f) Filing Period. To the extent permitted by law, any Dispute under this Agreement must be filed within one (1) year in an arbitration proceeding. The one-year period begins on the earliest date when any of the alleged claims first accrue, regardless of whether additional damages occur after such claims first accrue. If a Dispute is not filed within one year, it is permanently barred.

g) Opt-Out. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of the date that you first agreed to this Agreement (including any earlier version). If you have previously agreed to arbitration, then you may opt out of any future revisions to the arbitration provision within 30 days of receiving notice of the updated arbitration provision, in which case the prior version of the arbitration shall apply. To opt out of arbitration (or revisions to this arbitration provision), you must send your name, residence address, username, email address or phone number you use for your WEBTOON ACCOUNT, and a clear statement that you want to opt out of this arbitration agreement (or of the revisions to it), and you must send them here: NAVER Green Factory, 6, Buljeong-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

h) OUR AFFILIATES, AGENTS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUBCONTRACTORS ARE INTENDED AS THIRD PARTY BENEFICIARIES OF THE ARBITRATION CLAUSES IN THIS SECTION 15.

i) Injunctions. You acknowledge that any breach, threatened or actual, of these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms may cause irreparable harm to WEBTOON ACCOUNT, such harm may not be quantifiable in monetary damages, and WEBTOON ACCOUNT may not have an adequate remedy at law. You agree that WEBTOON ACCOUNT shall be entitled, in addition to other available remedies, to seek and be awarded an injunction or other appropriate equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction anywhere in the world restraining any breach, threatened or actual, of your obligations under any provision of these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms, and without the necessity of showing or proving any actual or threatened damage or harm, notwithstanding any rule of law or equity to the contrary. You hereby waive any requirement that WEBTOON ACCOUNT post any bond or other security in the event any injunctive or equitable relief is sought by or awarded to WEBTOON ACCOUNT to enforce any provision of these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms.

16. Miscellaneous

If any provision is held unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be severed and the remainder will remain in effect.

You may not assign these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms without WBTN’s prior written consent. WBTN may assign these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.

These WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms, together with any Supplemental Terms incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and WBTN regarding WEBTOON ACCOUNT (not any Downstream Service). WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms do not govern paid transactions, which are Downstream Service-specific.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, these WEBTOON ACCOUNT Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Nothing in this section limits mandatory rights you may have under the laws of your country or state of residence. The statutory provisions restricting the choice of law and the applicability of mandatory provisions, in particular of the state in which the customer has his habitual residence as a consumer, shall remain unaffected.
